About Aim Higher

Aim Higher was founded by Stephen Jones and is based in the heart of Snowdonia in North Wales.

Mountains have been a part of Stephen’s life for over 25 years. His experiences have led him from his native Ogwen Valley in Snowdonia to the Swiss and French Alps, other parts of Europe, Norway, and Central America as well as parts of the UK, both in summer and winter.

A qualified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader as well as a former Royal Marine and Military Ski Instructor, Stephen has a wealth of experience which has given him an insight into many methods of teaching and instructing. Also a holder of the Single Pitch climbing Award (SPA), Stephen is able to offer a variety of climbing experiences both on indoor climbing walls and outside on rock.

As an authorised provider under the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS), Stephen is able to offer a varied programme for schools, youth groups, scout groups and families. He is also able to provide courses under the Hill and Mountain Skills banner which are accredited by Mountain Training.

The incentive behind Aim Higher is to provide safe, professional, friendly and practical courses.

A fluent Welsh speaker, Stephen is keen to promote the Welsh language, history, attractions and communities of Wales and Snowdonia in particular.

Stephen lives in the Ogwen Valley, North Wales with his wife and two sons.
