This course is aimed at beginners or those with limited knowledge and experience of walking independently in the hills or countryside.
This course is aimed at beginners or those with limited knowledge of hillwalking. Maybe you are a regular walker but aren’t completely confident about planning, navigating and understanding other factors which affect us when we walk in the hills. The emphasis is very much on the practical side and the two days will be structured to give you ample time to practise and consolidate your new found knowledge and skills. Navigation will be practised throughout the two days. Our aim is to give you the confidence to venture out onto the hills independently whilst learning in a relaxed and fun way. A certificate of attendance is available for this course.
The maximum number of people on our course will be 6. This is part of the additional safety measures introduced by us to reflect the Covid-19 period.
Note: All our staff are qualified, knowledgeable and will always strive to give you the best experience coupled with ensuring your safety and others.
All timings on the hills are approximate.
Please contact us for alternative dates and group discounts.

A brilliant course. I was a bit nervous to start as I had no confidence when using a map. By the end of the course I was "buzzing" and felt confident enough to try map reading in the future. Stephen was a great teacher; helpful, encouraging (without being patronising) and knowledgeable. Highly recommended
Just completed an excellent day with Stephen from Anelu Aim Higher in the Carneddau range brushing up on existing walking skills and learning a whole new set of practical skills for walking in the hills. Stephen has a great way of teaching through doing and was great company. I feel so much more confident about planning routes and walking out in the hills now. I can't recommend him highly enough- diolch yn fawr iawn Anelu!
