This hill skills course is aimed at beginners or those with limited knowledge of hillwalking. Maybe you walk regularly around your local area and footpaths but aren’t completely confident about planning, navigating and understanding other factors which affect us when we walk in the hills and mountains. The emphasis is very much on the practical side and the two days will be structured to give you ample time to practise and consolidate your new found knowledge and skills whilst walking through some fantastic North Wales scenery! Navigation will be practised throughout the two days.We keep our groups reasonably small to ensure you have a quality and memorable experience. All our leaders are qualified, insured, knowledgeable and friendly. Our aim is to give you the confidence to venture out onto the hills independently whilst learning in a relaxed and fun way.

Once you book we'll send you a kit list and joining letter with information about the two days and we're always available for advice or a chat if you have any concerns!

Course Reviews

A brilliant course. I was a bit nervous to start as I had no confidence when using a map. By the end of the course I was "buzzing" and felt confident enough to try map reading in the future. Stephen was a great teacher; helpful, encouraging (without being patronising) and knowledgeable. Highly recommended

Just completed an excellent day with Stephen from Anelu Aim Higher in the Carneddau range brushing up on existing walking skills and learning a whole new set of practical skills for walking in the hills. Stephen has a great way of teaching through doing and was great company. I feel so much more confident about planning routes and walking out in the hills now. I can't recommend him highly enough- diolch yn fawr iawn Anelu!
