Course Description

You will experience 2 days walking in some of the finest scenery in Scotland, whilst improving your knowledge of how to plan and enjoy the winter environment safely.

You will learn about winter weather forecasts, avalanche awareness, clothing, equipment and navigation as well as the use of ice axe and crampons and much more!

With early starts and late finishes the Scottish environment is not to be taken lightly but it also offers amazing and memorable experiences!

This course is best suited for those who are regular mountain walkers or have some experience of walking in winter conditions perhaps with the limited use of crampons and ice axe. Please contact us to discuss the course if you are unsure, before booking.

All course transport during the day is included.

Technical safety equipment is included in the course cost but you will need to provide your own suitable winter walking boots.

It is advisable you bring your own crampons and ice axe but the hire of these is included in case you don't have any.

The course will be based in Aviemore, with good access to the Northern Cairngorms. The exact location of each day will vary depending on the current conditions. The winters across the mountains of the UK have become very unpredictable and what was once a reasonably settled and predictable time of the year has become the opposite. Our course dates reflect this so we will post course dates and availability as soon as we are confident that we are able to run a course.

Note: All our staff are qualified, knowledgeable and will always strive to give you the best experience coupled with ensuring your safety and others.
