Over the last couple of weeks we've held a tailored three day course for Stephen which consisted of a two day Hill Skills course as well as specific elements that covered leading groups on low level terrain.
The Hill Skills course is perfect for establishing and building personal skills at a level higher than expected for low level walks. Topics covered included planning, weather, navigation, clothing and equipment, access and the environment, hazards and emergency procedures. We ventured up to Bera Bach on the Carneddau and the first major snowfall of the season helped make it memorable! The Glyderau and Cwm Idwal also provided ideal locations to cover the syllabus.
The leadership and group management aspect brought about interesting discussions and gave opportunities to cover best practise as well as top tips and future learning.
