Ysgol Llanllechid Bushcraft
Year 6 pupils from Ysgol Llanllechid enjoyed a full day outdoors with us, learning about woodlands, nature, wildlife, their local area, history and finished the day off with a bushcraft session including roasting marshmallows!
The rain didn't dampen their spirits and they spent the morning learning about managing woodlands, different trees, their names and how to estimate a tree's age and height in different ways. We discussed the history of Bethesda, the quarry and the local community as well as the hardships, the quarry hospital and modern development of the area for tourism.
The bushcraft session is designed for pupils to understand and be able to practise sustainable bushcraft where their safety as well as others is important but also to ensure we have the minimum effect on nature and woodlands when enjoying the outdoors.
A great day with a great group who took an active interest in all the activities and the sun even made an appearance to finish the day off!
